Proposal is for mountain biking specific trails. They've hired Gravity Logic to handle trail design. This is same team which planned the Whistler mountain bike park trails.
Update 4/24/2010: "Friends of Mount Hood" group is opposed to plan for bike park at Timberline. This same group stopped development of trails at other location. W.T.F. asks you to join the facebook group "Timberline Bike Park, NO is not an option!" to show your support in favor of building mountain biking trails, and also to submit your comments and ideas (give Timberline your support!) at http://www.timberlinelodge.com/mountainbike/ .

Westside Trail Federation had a booth at the inaugural Pedal Nation Portland Bike Show hosted at Oregon Convention Center (April 10th/11th). Our group setup a booth to showcase status of main projects (proposed DH network in Tillamook State Forest and a freeride skill area at Stub Stewart State Park).

There's just something about the idea of being able to reserve/rent a custom built machine to use for building mountain biking specific trails that seems SO right! Westside Trail Federation sent a letter of support to Northwest Trail Alliance (NWTA) for their RTP grant application filed this month.
If you've got specific comments about the program, you should post them on the nw-trail.org site (use the link to story above).
